It was observed that the increase in the number of phishing attacks often occurs when there is a development in the financial sector, such as bank acquisitions or downward in the stock market. 

Cybercriminals are very smart, but the fact that they often use unsolicited emails as much of their modus operandi remains unchanged. You can never prevent phishing emails from reaching you, but you can at least prevent these malicious emails from harming you. Here are eight ways to avoid falling into the trap of the prevention of phishing attacks.

  1. Scan your computer regularly.Have security software (antivirus, malware scanners, firewalls, and the like) installed on your computer, and be sure to use it to scan your computer regularly and frequently prevention of phishing. Plus, you should invest in a good quality security suite to protect your computer.
  2. Ignore unsolicited requests.Most phishing emails pretend to give you a wealth of information and then request your information with great urgency. You should aware that banks and any trusted company or organization will not ask for your personal information.

  4.   5. Do not download executable email attachments.Many phishing emails contain attachments that end with the file extensions ".exe", ".com" and ".scr". These attachments are most likely viruses or malware, and you should never open them.
  6. Do not respond to emails not addressed to you.If the email is impersonal and appears to have been sent to a large number of recipients, please do not reply and delete it. Phishing emails are always general and are sent to millions of recipients at that time.
  7. Verify phone numbers.If you receive an email offering you any product and asks you to call a certain phone number, first check the phone number with an accredited agency. You can avoid getting caught in any scam.
  8. Report any suspicious activity.If you discover that one of the companies or organizations that you subscribe to online is being counterfeited for possible phishing attacks, contact the company or organization immediately. The earlier such activities are reported, the sooner the organization in question can act.

As we mentioned earlier, cybercriminals are very smart people. You may not be able to prevent attacks from occurring, but you can at least prevent them from making you their victim.
